.apparations.

anyone who stayed in a hostel back when we were in high school would probably had the experience with the existences from the other world. meeting, hearing, conjuring and what-nots. i had never met any or heard anything myself or conjured them. but i did imagine how they would look like when they have the pleasure of showing themselves to me. most of the images, i’m sure, were influenced by what we seen on telly, what we read from ghost stories and what we heard from others’ experiences.

.

like the movie IT which was adapted from stephen king’s novel. i can hardly remember the details of the movie. i can only recall the scene where there’s a severed head in the fridge and the clown coming out of the manhole. what is he doing in there?

.

like that one short story from the compilation of singapore’s ghost stories book. the author wrote that ghosts like it when we talk about them while we sit in group, under heavy blankets, in the dark with only torchlights to dimly light up the room. or any other way because as long as we are talking about them, they like it. so while you’re sharing ghost stories, if you get an itch and starts scratching here and there, it means they are reaching out of the wall and licking you all over! ugh! stay away from walls.

.

like the singing-whipping ghost in toilets that your dorm-mate told you about. of course this tale is created to scare friends and juniors who spend time in the showers too long or hogging the space for laundry. remember the once famous song with the lyrics, “walaupun lena ku panjang“? change lena to lidah. and once you heard it sung and the sentence ended, you’ll get whipped in the face with the ghost’s wet and sharp you-know-what.

.

the one i most dreaded is, you guessed it, the smiling ones. sitting on cupboards or alang bumbung or any high places like pontianaks love to do. they don’t have to do anything else to scare me. just sit and smile. *shivers* stop smiling you *@#&!?! ghost!

.

appreciate and cherish what you have. when you don’t learn to love what you have now, years from today, when need be, can we look back and smile? memories. don’t take things or people for granted. shared moments, strength, health, faith. family, friends, acquaintances. erm though in certain situation, you’d be much better off without some.

.whale of a time.

one doesn’t have to go the extra mile. nor does one has to do something very different from their every day routine. which in turn could do more harm than good, in some cases. at times, enjoying something close at heart is what makes us blissfully happy and content.

.

of course, what you and i have soft spots on differ. for example, i had a disagreement with a friend a few months back over the issue of women and cooking. erm as i see it, we hardly have things that we agreed upon haha. yes he is that annoying because sometimes he makes sweeping statements. but no, matno jokingly said they’re “sweeping stupid statements“. hehe cute. dia saje provoke aku utk sembang ngan dia. okay back to the topic. so, this friend of mine finds that enjoyment in cooking is ridiculous. he sees cooking as an obligation for women and females don’t and can’t enjoy the work. sad ain’t it? who on earth doesn’t enjoy cooking??! (rhetoric) see, even an ordinary and small activity may bring that hint of happiness *grins*

spending time with my opah for almost a month in penang was a whale of time too! because it was rare for opah to stay that long with us because her home is in malim nawar and being a darling opah she is, whenever she is away from home, she is always worrying about her grandchildren who also live there with their parent and that nobody is capable of taking care of her house exactly the way she does it. besides driving to great tourism spots, eating out (penang weh!) and visiting relatives, we also spent time together watching drama melayu. haha. this was when i found out about one drama on astro that has lameness factor written all over it because the concept was plagiarized from other famous hollywood series. four females as the main characters (check!), each with different personalities of course and different approaches on facing life (check! check!) and……a few scenes was taken from cecelia ahern’s p/s: i love you novel!! major lameness! even people like me who doesn’t read that novel noticed! ini kan pula peminat that author. eh jap, ni dah masuk totally topik lain. lihat, betapa tidak puas hatinye aku. akan ditulis di lain masa. maybe.

.

my other definition of whale of a time: reading and sleeping. hahaha. sukati ah. nikmat kurniaan tuhan tu tau. a bit far off, i know ;p

.

what is your definition of whale of a time?

somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

there’s a land that i’ve heard of once in a lullaby

somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue

and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

.

someday i’ll wish upon a star

and wake up where the clouds are far behind me

where troubles melt like lemon drops away above the chimney tops

that’s where you’ll find me

.

somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly

birds fly over the rainbow, why then, oh why can’t i?

somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly

birds fly over the rainbow, why then, oh why can’t i?

.

if happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow

why, oh why can’t i?
